Case Study

Robert Burns statue

Edinburgh • Scotland

McIntyre Masonry Ltd was asked to assist with Edinburgh trams work. One of our tasks was to dismantle the Robert Burns statue which was then to be restored and put back in place.  We carried out this work with minimal damage, it was a time-consuming work as the statue had bee poured with cement grout.

We worked for several days removing the cement from the delicate red stone base during the dismantling phase ensuring no damage to the decretive stones.

Once back at our yard we restored the bronze Robert Burns Statue and carved some replacement stones for the base that had decayed through time, ensuring that when this base was rebuilt it would last many more years to come.

We then rebuild the statue when the tram lines had been fitted.
